The WVU Undergraduate Neuroscience Club was founded in April 2012 to connect WVU students to research opportunities in Neuroscience, Brain Outreach activities, Center for Neuroscience lab tours, and opportunities in healthcare fields, such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, and physical therapy. We have monthly meetings, during which we host a presenter from a Neuroscience field (health, research, etc.), plan for community outreach activities and career fairs, and keep students up-to-date with anything Neuro-related at WVU, including the new Neuroscience Emphasis that will be offered to Biology students starting this year. Our adviser, Dr.Kevin Daly, has been the leader in getting this exciting new program established and continues to push for more Neuroscience courses to be offered for WVU students. Last semester, we were also able to launch our first Brain Outreach activities with the tremendous help of our new additional adviser, Dr.Elizabeth Engler-Chiurazzi, during which we presented to elementary students about the brain through interactive, hands-on activities. Our efforts were even featured in Morgantown’s daily newspaper The Dominion Post and WVU’s newspaper The Daily Athenaeum.
